I Stop For Historical Markers

I Stop For Historical Markers

If you’re a road warrior like me, you love a good drive to new places. I’ve learned over time the importance of spontaneity - you might be passing something that completely changes your view of the world. The history lessons that can be learned merely from walking first hand in some historically important places.

Last spring I did a road trip through a state I knew very little about - New Mexico. If you haven’t been, all I can say is go! The mountains, the deserts, the history. There is just so much to see. Most of it is not right off the freeway - you need to discover it. And discover I did - petroglyphs, ruins, stories of people who lived there centuries before us.

When I returned home, I made a point to take in some history in my own backyard. I stopped at so many places, many about Lewis and Clark and their expedition.  I’m not much of a bumper sticker person, but if I was, I’d have to find one that says “I Stop for Historical Markers”.
